Mulled Wine – Forralt Bor
Mulled Wine is a wonderful treat during the holidays. I love being in Hungary during the winter time when it is readily available. It can be made with either red or white wine!

- 750 ml inexpensive red wine (i.e. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Shiraz)
- 2/3 cup honey or sugar honey is better!
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 1 whole orange with cloves stuck in it
- 8-10 cloves
- star anise, little fresh ginger, cardamom Optional (Experiment a little to find what you love!)
Combine the ingredients in a large pot over low to medium heat and warm carefully.
Keep below a simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring frequently. Despite the Hungarian name, forralt bor (boiled wine), don’t boil the wine. We like to put this in a crockpot and leave it on low.
