Today on the podcast we’re gonna talk about traditions and gift giving. This is part three of the ici pici series of celebrating Christmas with Hungarian style on the Hungarian Living Podcast. Many of us have been discussing plans for the upcoming holidays, what to celebrate and how to celebrate. And I know the parents of our grandchildren are talking about traditions they each grew up with, which to keep, and which to set aside.

It’s always a struggle to decide which traditions might continue on because it isn’t realistic to expect all of them to continue from both sides of the family. Not to mention it hardly leaves room for new ones to develop. So take some time to think about your favorite traditions and what and how your house plans to celebrate.

Write down the ones that were most meaningful to you as a child, and if you get together with family and friends, you might find that this entire. Is an interesting discussion. If you exchange gifts for Christmas, you might want to consider giving gifts that encourage a deeper connection to Hungarian heritage.

Do you have some family recipes you’ve gathered? Share them with your family as your gift. Have you worked on some genealogy? That is also a wonderful gift to give. You can even buy Hungarian gifts according to the interests of the receivers. Think about how each person on your list is bent. Think about how each person on your list, What do they enjoy?

How do they best enjoy it? If they are readers or love history, you might wanna consider buying them a book. If they love being in the kitchen, maybe Hungarian cooking lessons with you, using family recipes would be a great gift. Or if you know how to embroider, teach them how to, I think there’s a lot of different gifts that you could give people, and some of them don’t even cost any cash. So enjoy the season and enjoy celebrating with Hungarian style. And don’t forget, we do have all sorts of gift ideas at The Hungarian Store and we’ll catch you next time.
