Szeged Tins Repurposed
September 21, 2014

Add a nice touch to your refrigerator or filing cabinet with these Hungarian-themed pencil holders!

Here is a very simple project we recently completed. If you have an old magnet on your refrigerator that you can use for this, that’s even better! There are many different Szeged brand products and their old style tins work great for this since they are rectangular. You might have some old style tins in your cupboard. And, if they have been there for a while, the contents are probably not very fresh. Also, the big problem with these tins is they have a tendency to rust. But, they are totally cool. So, even if the edges are rusty, I will use mine for this project.

Here is what you need:

* an empty Szeged tin (paprika, hot paprika, any of the rub tins, or the cinnamon and cinnamon sugar tins.) Or make a collection! These are fun to give as gifts! And they are super handy!
* a magnet
* glue (Elmer’s, Tacky Glue, Modge Podge, etc)

We used a business card size magnet, Modge Podge, and a clean, empty tin. Glue the magnet on the back and let dry and you are done!

Happy crafting!
